So you want to change your life?!? You feel unfulfilled in your current situation? You know there is more out there for you and you aren’t living up to you full potential? Where do I start? There are so many self help books and courses, all promise success. But, the real question is what does success mean for you? In an age of social media, we see all kinds of FAKE posts of people living the “perfect” lives and we want our piece of it! Lets step back and evaluate this for a second and figure out what success really means for us and quit chasing other people’s definition of success.
Can you be successful by working hard and getting everything your heart desires? This sounds like the formula to true success as designed by the world today but what if…
God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil. Ecclesiastes 6:2 NIV
Don’t live a meaningless, unfulfilled life! Find a purpose over desires. There are a few ways to approach this and if you ask your self these three simple questions, it will get your mind thinking towards achieving the path of life designed for you to create true success.
- What is it that I really love to do?
- How can I help the greatest number of people by doing this?
- What can I do NOW to get started helping people with what I love to do?
All three questions are equally important but please pay attention to the last one. What can I do NOW to get started…
Making changes in your life can be scary. Many times, we have grown comfortable were we are, even if it’s not the life we dream of. We have food, we have clothing, we even have a roof over our head and should be content with that! There is something more out there, we can feel it toughing on our heart and calling us! Now, it’s time to be constructively discontent and pursue it within reason. It is time to take action!
Now that we know we need to take action, how much action do we take? I would not suggest quitting your day job just yet unless you have planned this out for a long time and have the means to jump and fly with it. If we are not that far along in this dream of ours, it’s time to start planning on the day when we can jump and fly! This begins with planning your day and devoting some of your time each day to learning and practicing your craft. Get excited about it, knowing that even if things do not go the way you planned, you are still learning and growing. You are one step closer to living the life you dream of!
